The Ecomuseum
History of the ecomuseum
In the 12th century, Robert 1st Count of Dreux, son of King Louis VI, asked the monks of Breuil-Benoît Abbey to create a priory at the foot of his castle.
Until the French Revolution, the monks collected the tithe from the Drouais winegrowers there.
The counts exploited in Saint-Thibault one of the 6 banal presses of the city of Dreux.

1987
Creation of the Museum
In 1987, the Flora Gallica association created in these unique medieval remains the Ecomuseum of Drouais Winegrowers and Artisans.
Threatened by the construction of a road, the troglodyte cellars of the Saint-Thibault priory were entrusted to Flora Gallica, with the mission of resurrecting this place for generations to come.
